Chelyabinsk Students Engage with Federal Youth Affairs Chairman

  • Nikita Marchenkov, the head of the Coordination Council for Youth Affairs in Science and Education under the Russian Presidential Council, has met 23 students from Chelyabinsk in the "School 21" at SUSU. These are the students from the 8th to the 10th class who were invited to the event: members of the Movement of the First project of the Governor's engineering class from Chelyabinsk Lyceum No. 11, and students from Lyceum No.148.

The forum was opened by an excursion to "School 21," - the free digital technology school at South Ural State University, supported by Sberbank. A student is able to walk around such advanced educational facilities, sports and game rooms, as well as meeting places. Besides this, they were also told about IT skills and training programs provided, and career opportunities with leading Russian IT companies.

The candidates met at the office of the Governor. Students of the engineering class demonstrated their award-winning projects, which won competitions. Artem Yantsen spoke about technical models of a rocket, Mikhail Motashkov - self-propelled devices for small spaces, Viktoriia Tuzova, Lyceum No. 148, talked over the difficulties and solutions concerning teenage employment, and Mikhail Domanin, from the same lyceum, spoke about his project on the prototype launch vehicle.

Nikita Marchenkov said: "I like them so much, because for me, you are quite simply the future creators of our society. Young people today really want to contribute and find their fulfillment through science, the area where human ingenuity is still irreplaceable with vast opportunities awaiting the next generation."

The meeting concluded with an open microphone session in which students presented questions regarding current trends and challenges in the engineering of Russia, international collaboration among young scientists, and research priorities for young people in the country.

Asked Larisa Glazyrina, Deputy Head of the Office for Support to Continuing Education of SUSU, what the pursued goals are in this context: "We upgrade our relations with the Governor's engineering classes. The SUSU follows a model of 'school-university-enterprise', therefore, the students can get practical skills through such a mini-enterprise format, further it prepares them for employment at big companies, engaged in engineering.

With regard to engineering classes, the governor is interested in those from 8th-10th grades who are enrolling for two academic years and focus on key educational programs that cover engineering's most essential branches in the Chelyabinsk Region, such as intelligent manufacturing, materials science, ecology, information technology, and more.
