Brock University Explores Partnership Prospects in Middle Eastern Institutions

  • A delegation from Brock University showcased the institution's dedication to strengthening ties with Middle Eastern institutions during a recent strategic visit overseas. President and Vice-Chancellor Lesley Rigg was accompanied by Meaghan Rusnell, Interim Vice-President, External Affairs; Barry Wright, Dean of the Goodman School of Business; and Christina Bosilo, Director of Brock International, on the trip, which occurred from Friday, May 3, to Tuesday, May 14.

The purpose of the trip was to investigate possibilities for improving academic exchange programs and advancing global research initiatives, while also highlighting Brock University's expertise across various fields such as science, technology, business, education, health, and sports.

Representatives from Brock University held meetings with ministry and government officials, as well as educational organizations including King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge. Additionally, the delegation toured the campuses of King Saud University and Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahaman in Saudi Arabia, Canadian University Dubai in Dubai, and Zayed University in Abu Dhabi.

During their time in Saudi Arabia, the delegation took part in the KSA-Canada Education Partnership Forum, an event coordinated by the Canadian Embassy in Saudi Arabia. This forum facilitated discussions among attendees from Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, focusing on potential institutional partnerships regarding joint study programs, collaborative research, curriculum development, as well as student and faculty exchanges.

One of the trip's notable moments was a reception organized by Brock University in Dubai, welcoming accepted incoming international students and Brock alumni. This gathering provided a special occasion for accepted international students to meet senior leaders and staff from the University in their own country. Moreover, it offered an opportunity to listen to firsthand experiences from other students who have studied abroad at Brock.
