BlackBerry Limited and Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, the national centre for cyber training, research, and innovation at Toronto Metropolitan University, have partnered to introduce Malaysia to the CLIC program for the first time. This collaboration aims to address the gender gap in the Malaysian cybersecurity industry by offering full scholarships to three qualified Malaysian women in partnership with the SANS Institute. The CLIC Malaysia program will kick off in May 2024, with enrollment now open.
As BlackBerry gears up to inaugurate its new Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE) in Kuala Lumpur on March 26, this alliance with the Catalyst underscores BlackBerry's dedication to supporting Malaysia and other Indo-Pacific nations in enhancing their cybersecurity capabilities.
The CLIC program is a rigorous six-month cybersecurity training and certification course designed to equip individuals with the skills necessary to begin or advance their careers in cybersecurity. Graduates can earn two globally recognized SANS GIAC certifications. Participants will have access to the Catalyst Cyber Range, receive mentorship from leading experts in the field, and undergo training covering various aspects such as cybersecurity ethics, organizational strategy, regulatory compliance, and translating cyber risk into business risk.
President and Vice-Chancellor of Toronto Metropolitan University, Mohamed Lachemi, expressed excitement about expanding their innovative training programs to Malaysia through the Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst. This venture reinforces their commitment to fostering excellence in cybersecurity on a global scale. Together with BlackBerry, they aim to shape a secure digital future for individuals and organizations worldwide.
