Bharti Airtel Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, announced the 'Bharti Airtel Scholarship Program' to commemorate its 25 years. This is a merit-cum-means scholarship that will benefit deserving students from different socio-economic backgrounds, concentrating on girl students in engineering colleges.
These scholarships will be available for students taking up technology-based engineering courses in the undergraduate level and those taking up the five-year integrated courses in the top 50 NIRF colleges, the annual family income of the candidate shall not exceed Rs 8.5 lakh.
"Scaled up incrementally with successful implementation through each cohort, the Program, with an intake of 250 students this year, looks to touch base with an aspiration 4,000 scholars with an outlay of Rs 100+ crore per year as the Programme reaches the peak", the foundation said in a press release.
The scholarship will cover 100% of the college fees for the entire course. The scholarship will also cover other benefits like a laptop and hostel and mess fees.
Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman Bharti Enterprises, and Co-Chairman, Bharti Airtel Foundation, added: "As we reflect on the last 25 years, Bharti Airtel Foundation is proud to have touched 6 million+ lives through our educational initiatives. With this pioneering Bharti Airtel Scholarship Program, we are broad basing our commitment to empower students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, particularly girl students, to strive for academic excellence and provide wings to their dreams".
The scholarship program highlights concerns for the Bharti Airtel Foundation in increasing the availability of education, which, as such, therefore places concerns on the students to meet academic attainment in their career pursuit. The foundation ensures that, by being mean, no student is financially burdened to such an extent that a talented student is denied the chance to have good quality education to the highest level possible in a bid to exploit their full potential.
Now with the growth of the program, it is set to be one of the largest scholarships in India directly contributing toward the educational landscape and empowerment of the next crop of engineers and innovators.
