Ashville College is thrilled to announce the appointment of Abigail Hiley as the new Deputy Head of Prep School. Hiley joins the prestigious institution from Harrow International School in Hong Kong, where she spent eight impactful years integrating digital technologies into education and enhancing teaching and learning practices.
Hiley brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having taught in various international settings, including the UK and Dubai. Her diverse background provides her with a broad perspective on global education practices, which she is eager to apply at Ashville College.
In her new position, Hiley will collaborate closely with Phil Soutar, Head of Prep School, and other senior leaders to build on Ashville’s rich and diverse curriculum. Her focus will be on embedding essential, transferable skills in students to prepare them for the modern world while advancing the use of technology in the classroom. Additionally, she will play a crucial role in promoting professional development among Ashville’s teaching staff.
Reflecting on her new role, Hiley expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “It’s an exciting time to join Ashville, and I’m looking forward to enhancing the learning opportunities for pupils here. The warm welcome from the Ashville families and the wider Harrogate community has been wonderful”.
Hiley’s journey into education began early, with a clear calling to teach from a young age. Her career has spanned continents, enriching her professional life through exposure to different cultures and educational practices. Although her time in Hong Kong was fulfilling, she felt a strong pull back to the UK.
“Ashville’s commitment to excellence really resonated with me when I read their Strategic Intents”, Hiley added. “I’m excited to be part of a school that is deeply rooted in the community and strives to be the independent school of choice in the region. I am eager to contribute to such an ambitious 2-18 school”.
Phil Soutar, Head of Prep School, expressed his excitement about Hiley’s appointment, saying, “We’re delighted to have Abigail on board. Her expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow, with over 45 new pupils joining this term alone. Her leadership will undoubtedly help us go from strength to strength. This is a great time to join Ashville and share the Head’s ambition and vision for the Prep School and the whole College”.
