His Excellency Jamal Salem Al Turaifi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and President of Al Qasimia University (AQU), presided over the 13th regular meeting of the Board of Trustees for the academic year 2024-2025. The meeting was held at the university's main campus in Sharjah.
The board began the session by expressing its deep and heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his visionary leadership and continued support to the AQU. His highness's efforts have placed the university on the cutting edge of academic institutions globally, attracting thousands of students from more than 128 countries worldwide.
During the meeting, the board approved the graduation of the eighth batch of university students who completed the graduation requirements for bachelor's programmes, in the university's five colleges.
The board also discussed the university's annual plan for the academic year 2024-2025, the methodology of the new strategic plan 25-30, and the launch of the master's programmes in jurisprudence and its principles and the Arabic language and literature, in light of the university obtaining the approval of the Academic Accreditation Commission at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates, in line with the needs of the labour market and achieving the university's aspirations towards the continuous development of academic programmes and support for students and graduates, enhancing scientific research activities and community service, and enhancing the university's institutional capacity.
During the meeting, Professor Dr. Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of AQU, presented detailed reports on the university's performance during the previous academic year and the work plan for the academic year 2024/2025. He also presented the university's achievements in the fields of education and scientific research, community service and joint cooperation agreements with a number of international institutions and universities, and enhancing the quality of accredited academic programmes at the university.
The board also reviewed the reports of the various committees related to resource development, academic affairs, commitment and auditing, recruitment and international relations, as well as initiatives aimed at enhancing students' academic experience and various activities that hone their skills and abilities, enabling them to face future challenges and contribute to serving their communities.
At the end of the meeting, Al Turaifi praised the efforts of the board members and their valuable contributions to achieving AQU mission, as a true translation of the vision of its founder, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, to be a beacon of excellence in higher education and scientific research based on the Holy Quran and the Arabic language. He also stressed the importance of the university's strategic planning that contributes to developing scientific research, serving the community and enhancing the university's academic excellence, to qualify students from different countries of the world to serve their countries and to collaborate in their renaissance and progress.
