Al-Sulaiti emphasizes Education, and Innovation in Developing Nations

  • Fahad Al-Sulaiti, CEO of Education Above All (EAA), spoke at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar's Dean’s Lecture Series about how technology and innovation are pivotal in shaping the organization’s strategic vision. Al-Sulaiti emphasized EAA's alignment with the fourth UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which focuses on ensuring inclusive and quality education for all.

EAA's commitment lies in reaching the most marginalized populations globally, particularly children, women, and refugees facing educational barriers due to poverty, conflict, or lack of resources. Al-Sulaiti stressed the organization's dedication to leaving no child or youth behind in the education system.

Dean Michael Trick found the lecture pertinent for CMU-Q students, who are learning about the impact of AI on their fields and society. Al-Sulaiti's insights underscored how AI can improve quality of life, resonating with the students' educational pursuits and future endeavours.

EAA's innovative initiatives, like the Internet Free Education Resource Bank (IFERB) in India and the Digital School Program in Zambia and Pakistan, provide flexible learning options complementing mainstream education. Al-Sulaiti outlined how innovation will shape equity in education, emphasizing investments in alternative education access methods.

He highlighted EAA's exploration of AI-driven adaptive learning pathways, assessments, and interactive environments, especially in resource-constrained regions or for learners with diverse paces. These efforts aim to bridge educational gaps and empower learners globally.

The Dean’s Lecture Series at CMU-Q serves as a platform for influential thinkers and leaders in Qatar, fostering dialogue on critical topics like education and technology. It provides students with insights into real-world applications of their academic pursuits.

Carnegie Mellon University, renowned for its creativity and collaboration, aims to have a transformative impact locally and globally. EAA, established in 2012 by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, shares this vision, believing in education as a catalyst for poverty reduction, social justice, and achieving the SDGs.
