The Australian Catholic University (ACU), renowned as one of the top 10 Catholic universities globally, has honoured three exceptional academic talents from Sri Lanka with the esteemed ACU International Student Scholarship. This scholarship covers 50% of the total course fees for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
As a multi-campus institution, ACU boasts a diverse student body, including over 4,000 international students. To be considered for the scholarship, students must fulfil eligibility criteria and undergo a rigorous application process before the specified deadline. Each application is thoroughly evaluated, with candidates assessed based on their recent academic achievements, competing against peers worldwide. Despite the fierce competition, the encouragement from their agents prompted Sonali Manawadu, Briony Ranasinghe, and Dilayne Perera to apply, resulting in their successful selection as scholarship recipients for the February 2024 intake.
These deserving scholars, hailing from diverse backgrounds and pursuing various academic disciplines, share a common aspiration to become educated graduates committed to making a positive societal impact. ACU, ranking in the top 2% of universities globally and 47th among young universities worldwide, offers only 20 scholarship positions annually, with 14 available in Semester 1 (February) and 6 in Semester 2 (July). The selection process is highly competitive, attracting top academic achievers from around the globe.
Securing this scholarship is a testament to the recipients' academic prowess and is regarded as a prestigious achievement. Their success reflects positively on both Sri Lanka and ACU, highlighting their ability to stand out among the fourteen scholarship recipients for the February intake. ACU extends its congratulations to Sonali, Briony, and Dilayne, commending them for their exceptional accomplishment and wishing them continued success in their academic pursuits.
