Abu Dhabi Police Unveils Smart Mobile Digital Traffic Education Patrol

  • Abu Dhabi Police has introduced a smart mobile digital traffic education patrol aimed at raising awareness among various community groups, such as drivers, road users, families, and school and university students, to promote traffic safety initiatives.

Brigadier Mahmoud Yousef Al Balushi, Director of the Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate, stated that the digital patrol will significantly contribute to fostering a culture of traffic safety among the community. The initiative also focuses on educating parents, children, private drivers, and domestic workers on proper behavior inside vehicles and on the roads to prevent accidents.

He pointed out that it will also focus on raising public awareness through lectures to introduce the patrol and type of services it provides to the public, presenting gifts and distributing “digital awareness brochures”. The patrol features a driving simulator using virtual reality to impart lessons in addition to displaying digital awareness videos using advanced technology.

Major Ahmed Abdullah Al Muhairi, Director of Digital Traffic Awareness Projects, stated that the digital traffic education patrol is a forward-thinking service aligned with future trends in Abu Dhabi. He noted that Abu Dhabi Police is continually advancing its use of artificial intelligence technologies, particularly in enhancing traffic awareness and capacity building.

He explained that the patrol features smart screens, models, and virtual reality (VR) technology to simulate road traffic conditions and enhance traffic safety awareness. It is equipped with advanced tools, including a rear display screen on the patrol car for showing awareness films. The patrol also promotes traffic safety methods, such as the use of child safety seats, and encourages participation in traffic awareness competitions.
