The opening of the Abai Scientific and Cultural Center and a Kazakh Language and Literature Department at Rashidov Samarkand State University. The center and the department are meant to strengthen the cultures of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and to promote the literary heritage of the great poet and thinker Abai. This center is going to nurture a multicultural environment and further spiritual bonds among students from both universities.
Other important guest included Kazakh Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Uzbek Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Kazakhstan's ambassador to Uzbekistan Beibut Atamkulov, Bolat Tlep, rector of the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, and Rustam Khalmuradov, rector of Samarkand State University.
The opening of Abai Scientific and Cultural Center is another important step forward in education and cultural cooperation. This facility will be the seventh in a chain of centers established abroad by Abai University. Rector Tlep is sure that this center will become a good place for the exchange of knowledge and friendship and mutual understanding between Turkic-speaking countries.
Earlier, a Navoiy Language and Literature Center was launched at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University in order to study and further the works of the illustrious Uzbek poet. Now, 148 Uzbek students study at the Kazakh university.
A Kazakh Language and Culture Scientific and Education Center named after Abai was introduced this May at the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of Kazan Federal University in Tatarstan.
