9th IISF Boosts India's Global Presence in Science, Technology and Innovation

  • The 9th edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF-2023) showcased India's scientific achievements to 21 different nations. These countries, represented by 35 international delegates, actively participated in the science outreach festival. The delegates, hailing from diverse backgrounds, engaged in various events as speakers and panelists, fostering long-term collaborations with India. The countries involved include Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Cambodia, France, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Namibia, the Philippines, Rwanda, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, the United States, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe. IISF is the largest science festival which brings together and connects all the segments of society. This has been organised since 2015 and the IISF 2023 is the ninth edition of the series. In this edition total 17 events have been scheduled.

    The participating institutions encompassed a diverse range, including the University of Tsukuba, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation in Cambodia, the University of South Australia, the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Community Education Development in Lao PDR, Bordeaux University, the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) in Malaysia, Enterprise Singapore, the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council in Thailand, the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand, the University of Zimbabwe, and the Australian High Commission in India.

    The partnerships will enable access to expertise and advanced infrastructure globally. This includes utilizing cutting-edge fabrication facilities for grassroots innovation, enhancing capacity building and exposure for innovators, facilitating technology exchange for broader dissemination of domestic technologies, collaborating on joint research and publications, engaging with industries for research commercialization, and ultimately, strengthening India's Science, Technology and Innovation relationships with other nations.
