228 Indian Students Win Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards

  • 228 Indian Students win Cambridge University's Outstanding Learner Awards for top global performance Cambridge University Press & Assessment - International Education group is pleased to announce that it has awarded the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards to 228 students from India for their outstanding performance. These awards are in recognition of outstanding performance by learners from secondary schools in India, who sat for the November 2023, March 2024, and June 2024 Cambridge examination series. The awards are a way of acknowledging students' success in the Cambridge IGCSE™ and International AS & A Level examinations across a range of subjects.

    The ceremony, held in Mumbai, saw 82 students receiving the prestigious 'Top in the World' awards for achieving the highest mark in a single subject globally. In addition, 110 students were recognized with the 'Top in India' awards for securing the highest marks in India in a single subject. The recognition reflects India's outstanding performance, particularly in Mathematics and English. A total of 88% of students in the 'Top in the World' category scored high in these two subjects, with Mathematics covering a dominant 80%.

    The Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards are a global scheme that recognizes success in Cambridge International Education examinations at over 40 countries. Through this program, the success story of students whose academic excellence encompasses not only learning but also, more importantly, critical thinking abilities, independent research skills, and subject knowledge-a set of high-value skills nurtured by the Cambridge qualifications-emphasized worldwide by top-tier universities. It equips its students to compete and succeed through higher education, and beyond that.

    On behalf of Cambridge International Education South Asia, Senior Vice President Vinay Sharma thanked the award recipients. "Our learners are at the core of everything we do. Every aspect of a Cambridge education-in curriculum, teaching, resources and assessment-is designed and devised to help students reach their best", he said. He also thanked parents and educators for their tireless support in helping students flourish.

    The awards also recognize students for ‘High Achievement,’ an honor given to those excelling in subjects that are less widely taken in India. Additionally, some students were acknowledged for their overall academic excellence in multiple subjects, having achieved the highest cumulative marks across all their exams. These winners outperformed thousands of candidates globally who participated in the Cambridge examinations.

    With more than 160 years of delivering international exams, Cambridge International educates nearly one million students every year who go on to further and higher education success.
