SGU School of Medicine Invites South Korean Applicants

  • St. George's University's School of Medicine in the Caribbean is now accepting applications for its Fall 2024 intake, extending a special invitation to aspiring medical students from South Korea. With a mission to combat the global physician shortage, SGU, renowned as the largest provider of licensed physicians in the US, aims to equip students with international medical education.

South Korea is confronted with a significant healthcare workforce deficit, characterized by a low doctor-to-population ratio compared to other developed nations. SGU's Executive Director of International Student Recruitment, David Anthonisz, expressed enthusiasm in supporting prospective students for the upcoming intake, highlighting the institution's commitment to fostering a skilled medical workforce capable of addressing global healthcare needs.

To assist international students, SGU offers various financial aid options tailored to individual requirements, including the International Peace Bursary, Global Scholars Bursary, and SGU Academic Scholarship. These initiatives reflect the university's dedication to promoting diversity and rewarding academic excellence within its student body.

SGU's True Blue campus in Grenada provides flexibility with three intake periods – January, April, and August, each offering unique benefits. Students admitted for the August intake seamlessly align with the global academic calendar, easing their transition into the medical program post-exams. Moreover, since 2007, SGU has collaborated with Northumbria University to offer additional intake periods in September and January, providing students with the opportunity to pursue medical careers in the UK.

The partnership underscores SGU's commitment to preparing students for successful medical careers while embracing global experiences. This initiative signifies SGU's dedication to inclusivity and expanding access to medical education. Prospective students from South Korea interested in pursuing a medical career through SGU can access detailed program information and the application process. The university encourages aspiring medical professionals to explore the opportunities available and embark on a fulfilling educational journey at St. George's University School of Medicine.
