Professor Christopher Tredwin, Dean and Director of Queen Mary's Institute of Dentistry, greeted a delegation from the University of Ha'il in Saudi Arabia, which included the President, Vice President, and senior faculty from their College of Dentistry. The visit provided an opportunity to explore potential areas for collaboration, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.
Professor Christopher Tredwin said, “Contributing to Queen Mary’s Strategy 2030 and aligning with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, we are excited to be formalising our partnership with University of Ha’il through a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement comes on the back of existing fruitful engagement between our two institutions, often driven by staff at Institute of Dentistry and Queen Mary alumni who are now faculty members at the University of Ha’il. We are particularly enthusiastic about the potential for greater educational, training and research exchanges between our students and staff, as well as the alignment of our missions around improving lives through effective and inclusive community engagement and social partnerships”.
Professor Richard Grose, Dean for International Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, was present as well. He offered insights into Queen Mary's existing educational and research partnerships with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Professor Richard Grose said, “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome our partners from the University of Ha’il to Queen Mary. We are eager to build on the strong foundations that have been established in the field of dentistry by exploring new routes of collaboration, including expanding our current partnership into other disciplines, both in the context of education and research”.
Dr. Patrick McGurk, Professor Brigitte Granville, and Dr. Georgios Kavetsos from the School of Business and Management, along with Dr. Matthieu Burnay, Dean for International Affairs at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, welcomed a delegation from the Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology (BUCT). The delegation was led by Dr. Yan Qu, Vice Chair of the BUCT Council. Dr. Burnay provided a brief introduction to Queen Mary during the meeting.
At this early phase of the relationship, the discussions focused on exploring potential educational partnerships and student exchange opportunities. This includes the possibility for BUCT students to participate in Queen Mary's Summer School or enroll in innovative and industry-focused MSc programs offered by the School of Business and Management.
