Awsaj Academy organized a fundraising event for Al Fakhoora School in Gaza called 'From Awsaj to Al Fakhoora' at Qatar Foundation's Education City. The event included various activities such as students selling their handmade artworks and traditional food at stalls. Attendees also enjoyed poetry readings and a play recital, providing a chance to immerse themselves in the culture and heritage of Palestine.
Education serves as a crucial gateway for Palestinian students, providing them with the opportunity to connect with the broader world and embrace exposure. Despite the loss of their land, families, and a comfortable life, ensuring the preservation of their education remains a significant responsibility that we must focus on. The objective of the event was to heighten children's awareness of the challenges faced by their counterparts in Gaza, fostering a deeper understanding of the ongoing situation in the region. Our students have conveyed that they struggle to enjoy learning and playing when they are aware that children in Palestine are deprived of these fundamental experiences. Every child has the right to learn and play, making it essential to address this concern.
Ali Saeed Al Ghaithani, a 16-year-old student from Awsaj Academy, emphasized that education is a right, not a privilege, and serves as a potent tool even in the face of war and destruction. Supporting education, according to him, equips minds with knowledge, instils resilience with hope, and helps rebuild what conflict cannot destroy. Shahad Al Janahi, a 17-year-old student at Awsaj Academy, expressed deep empathy for the struggles of children in Palestine, viewing their challenges as if they were her own. She believes in the equal entitlement of every individual, including those in Palestine, to the fundamental right to education. Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, an 18-year-old student at Awsaj Academy, participated in a meaningful initiative to uphold the right to education in Palestine, viewing it as a responsibility for Muslims. The collective efforts in gathering donations are aimed at contributing to the restoration of Al Fakhoora School in Gaza.
