OTS Nations to Launch Turktransplant Initiative

  • Health ministers of Organization of the Turkic States (OTS) signed a memorandum to create the Turktransplant system, In hopes to improve the sharing of information and experiences in organ and tissue transplantation. Agreement was made during the OTS's fourth health ministers meeting held in Shusha, Azerbaijan.

     

    The meeting was chaired by Azerbaijan’s Health Minister Teymur Musayev and included contributions from OTS Secretary General Kubanicbek Omuraliyev, Türkiye’s Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu, Kyrgyzstan's Health Minister Alımkadır Beyşenaliyev, Uzbekistan's Deputy Health Minister Davron Sultanov, and Kazakhstan's Deputy Health Minister Yerbol Ospanov.

    During the discussions, Musayev stressed the importance of building a cohesive medical scientific community among OTS member and observer states. He pointed out that collaborative scientific research and the development of common standards for medical education are vital elements of their collective efforts.

     

    Furthermore, agreements were established between scientific research institutions from the health ministries of OTS member and observer countries, concentrating on areas such as oncology, cardiology, ophthalmology, paediatrics, traumatology, and orthopaedics.
