Nobel laureate Ada Yonath, along with global education experts such as Professor Philip G Altbach from Boston College, will participate in the two-day international conclave on next-gen higher education, organized by the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) on January 14 and 15.
The conclave will include representatives from well-known institutions such as the National University of Singapore, Southampton University, Michigan University, Edinburgh University, Lancaster University, and OECD Paris. Additionally, several prominent Indian higher education institutions will participate in the event.
Higher Education Minister R Bindu said the event is expected to attract nearly 2,000 delegates - national and international participants. The conclave falls under the umbrella of the 'Study-in-Kerala' initiative by the state government to build up infrastructure and resources in universities, positioning Kerala as a premier destination for higher education, attracting students from all parts of the globe.
The chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, will inaugurate the conclave at 10 am on Tuesday, and the function will be presided over by Minister Bindu. Professor Philip G Altbach will present the keynote address.
A pre-conclave workshop will be held at Rajagiri College at 10 am on Monday, inaugurated by Bindu. Dr. Zacharia Mathew of Michigan University will lead the session. Cusat will also host an exhibition on higher education, showcasing advancements in the field.
