Medtronic Vietnam and University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City have signed their fourth Memorandum of Understanding. The collaboration is on the subject matter of strengthening healthcare education and training in Vietnam. This collaboration would enhance medical experts within the campus through 23 specialized programs in cardiovascular, neuroscience fields, and more.
UMC HCMC has continually ensured innovative treatments reach patients. Among some of the many key milestones included its first successful case of an epilepsy patient treated with Deep Brain Stimulation in Vietnam and its offers of leadless pacemaker therapy through local and international training programs.
It is collaboration that leads to Continuing Medical Education (CME), which supports art among surgeons in master minimally invasive surgeries (MIS). It has targeted education regarding spines, hernia, thoracic, and gastrointestinal surgery aimed at better outcomes for surgeries and the implementation of high medical expertise.
In collaboration with UMC, Medtronic is working towards establishing the hospital as Vietnam's second stand-alone proctor for TAVI and enhancing its standing in providing high-end cardiovascular trainings for the country's medical professionals.
While focusing on the CME initiatives, Medtronic supports the improvement of the management of stroke and aortic stenosis through raising public awareness. It forms a fundamental strategy for health advancement in Vietnam, and this improvement in care helps to provide a better care option in the country.
Paul Verhulst, Vice President of Medtronic Southeast Asia, said: "This MoU reflects a shared commitment to advancing healthcare. As the collaboration evolves, it is poised to bring transformative change, benefiting patients, healthcare professionals, and communities in Vietnam".
Associate Professor Nguyen Hoang Bac, Director of UMC HCMC, said, "Medtronic Vietnam has been instrumental in our hospital's development, supporting meaningful activities. This collaboration will help us build a training center of excellence, enhance our departments, and connect with global experts to improve treatment outcomes".
Medtronic is still one of the leaders in healthcare technology, and its dedicated healthcare solutions and training programs continue to push forward the advancement of medical care through various specialties.
