One of Malaysia's largest integrated telecommunications company, Maxis, and the AmBank Group are reinforcing their partnership by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that targets accelerating digital transformation within the healthcare sector in Malaysia. It will popularize innovative connectivity-driven solutions within the whole healthcare ecosystem with Maxis' strong digital prowess and AmBank's diverse portfolio of financial services.
The collaboration was formalised through a partnership announcement held at the Malaysia International Healthcare (MIH) Megatrends 2024 conference, in the presence of YB Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications Malaysia, Datuk Mohamad Fauzi bin Md Isa, Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications, and Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din, Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Maxis was represented by Goh Seow Eng, Chief Executive Officer, while AmBank Group was represented by Jamie Ling, Group CEO.
By enabling the adoption of connectivity and digital solutions, this collaboration seeks to enhance service delivery, accessibility to medical services, and infrastructure across the healthcare ecosystem. AmBank will work closely with Maxis to make financing more accessible to healthcare solutions.
Goh Seow Eng, Chief Executive Officer of Maxis, said, “Together with AmBank, we look forward to accelerating digital adoption in Malaysia’s healthcare sector to benefit providers and the patients they serve. This builds upon our ongoing initiatives to promote future-ready digital solutions for businesses enabled by 5G and 5G-Advanced connectivity, including Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Through this collaboration, we will be able to leverage the best of technology to advance Smart Healthcare for the nation, in line with our aim of connecting people and businesses to a world of possibilities.”
Jamie Ling, Group CEO of AmBank Group, commented, “Our partnership with Maxis continues with another collaboration in the healthcare sector. By combining AmBank’s expertise in financial solutions with Maxis’ advanced digital expertise, we aim to contribute to improving healthcare accessibility, working with partners who will bring new and enhanced health care solutions to the industry.”
The collaboration gives a platform to discuss next-generation healthcare solutions in order to meet the needs of service delivery and patient experience. This could include new technologies, such as remote consultation, robotics, artificial intelligence, augmented reality/virtual reality, and autonomous delivery of medical supplies.
This would mean that both AmBank and Maxis are very keen on driving digital innovations across various sectors. The two companies had earlier collaborated for retail transformation and, more importantly, to help SMEs go sustainable through digitalisation.
