KPJ Healthcare Berhad announced yesterday the roll-out of the KPJ Academic Health System, which is the first in Malaysia. This system would incorporate education and research in the hospitals and transform them into innovation and learning centers. This will also support the national healthcare strategy in advancing Malaysia's vision for a world-class health care system.
The event was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, where among the distinguished guests were Minister of Health Malaysia Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, KPJ Healthcare University (KPJU) Chairman Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim, and KPJ Healthcare Chairman Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Ismail Bin Bakar.
Datuk Syed Mohamed articulated the future of healthcare when he said, "We need to rethink how health care should be delivered. Hospital models must change from being only traditional curative institutions by leveraging innovations such as AI-powered diagnoses and precision medicine. Transitioning to the more preventive forms of treatment will lead to a sustainable way for a better model of healthcare."
KPJ Healthcare System is interested in the care of patients as a top priority, facilitating lifelong health professional learning to advance health research at all scales of solving current and future problems. With advanced technologies through AI, quantum computing, and nanomedicine, KPJ Health Care envisages new peaks in achieving quality health care, outcomes of patients with better results, and the best healthcare providers the next generation shall be exposed to.
This initiative supports governmental efforts to enhance access to advanced treatments, reduce disparities in healthcare, and establish specialized centers for complex medical cases, thus strengthening Malaysia's healthcare framework.
It is actually the official launch where after an internal launch which put the vision of this program to the stakeholders KPJ Health System was formalised. The initiative benefits, therefore, not just for the patients and KPJ Healthcare staff but all society as a whole for a strong emphasis on both education and research. The core pathways to future breakthroughs on healthcare are set for by three core pillars underpinning the Group that namely include healing, teaching and discovering.

The MIH Megatrends 2024 conference, being organized by the Ministry of Health Malaysia in collaboration with KPJ Healthcare and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, MCMC, would be the first platform where healthcare leaders, professionals, and innovators could talk about breakthrough advancements, share knowledge, and make partnerships to improve quality, accessibility, and sustainability in the health care sector of Malaysia.
