Global solutions for healthcare company Aspen Medical signed an alliance with the University of Wollongong in Dubai(UOWD) as part of enhancement of healthcare training and education with the better workforce development in the region. The Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) signed between the Executive Chairman of Aspen Medical, Glenn Keys, and the President of UOWD, Professor Mohamed Salem, formalizes this cooperation. It has been designed to respond to the sector's challenges through novel educational offerings and experiential programs for students, professionals in healthcare, and the community at large.
The partnership will be aimed at conducting joint healthcare training programs in critical care, emergency response, and public health initiatives. The collaboration also encompasses joint public health campaigns aimed at creating awareness on regional healthcare challenges.
A major part of the cooperation is to set up at UOWD a clinical skills and simulation lab where students can go through practical experience in clinical competencies, along with developing appropriate critical thinking and decision-making skill. The lab will largely enhance the learning experience here at UOWD for the students, who would be well equipped to handle real-world challenges in healthcare.
"We look forward to this partnership with UOWD to open more opportunities for the development of student and professional skills in healthcare sectors", said Glenn Keys, Executive Chairman of Aspen Medical. "This partnership will not only advance the learning experience but also strengthen efforts in workforce development and emergency preparedness in the region".
Professor Mohamed Salem, President of UOWD also expressed his enthusiasm over the partnership. He pointed out, "Working with Aspen Medical provides our students the opportunity to gain real-world knowledge and hands-on experiences that are truly critical in today's environment of healthcare. This is going to enable us in addressing local healthcare needs with the preparation of the future leaders in healthcare".
Claire Westbrook-Keir, General Manager of Aspen Medical in the UAE, said: "This is a big step forward in our mission to improve healthcare education and workforce readiness in the region. By combining Aspen Medical's global expertise with UOWD's strong academic foundation, we are confident this collaboration will make a lasting impact".
Under the agreement, Aspen Medical will contribute to UOWD's Health Sciences faculty by delivering guest lectures on field hospital operations, emergency response in challenging environments, and innovations in deployable healthcare technologies. In this regard, Aspen Medical will also offer advisory services in order to help UOWD make its healthcare training programs similar to best practices globally.
In addition to that, collaboration offers special opportunities for students and alumni at UOWD, for instance, doing internships at remote health facilities for Aspen Medical and participating in public health campaigns. As Aspen Medical and UOWD continue moving ahead, their best interest would be to provide a robust, resilient, and skilled workforce, keeping with the ever-changing needs of the sector.
