Varsities and colleges must now publish all information on their websites

  • The fee structure, national ranking, fee refund policy, dorm facilities, scholarship programs, and other information regarding universities, colleges, and higher education institutions in Meghalaya must now be made public on their official websites. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has created a "Minimum-Mandatory Disclosure" regulation for higher education institutions in the nation, which requires them to upload information about academic programs, the academic calendar, schools/departments/centers, faculty details with photographs, admissions and fee information, as well as other crucial details. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings must also be made public.

It should be noted that many universities, colleges, and higher education institutions' websites lack the bare minimum of information about their institutions and frequently aren't updated or functional. The UGC has prepared a detailed document on the information that must be disclosed on the websites of the higher education institutions. This report was distributed to all institutions by the UGC.

The 'Minimum Mandatory Disclosure' rule for higher education institutions, according to the document, will require that the institutions have an 'About us' page, Act and Statutes or MoA, and information about the Institutional Development Plan, Annual Reports, Constituent Units, Affiliated Colleges, Off-campus, and Off-shore campus. The UGC mandates that universities and colleges upload information about their accreditation, national rankings, and the bios of all senior administrative staff members.
