Uzbekistan and Singapore Collaborate to Revolutionize Education Sector

  • The Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan has announced extensive reforms in its education sector. As part of this initiative, they have teamed up with Marshall Cavendish Education from Singapore to implement a comprehensive action plan. This plan aims to provide training and professional development for school leaders, education trainers, and teachers across the country. Additionally, it includes the adoption of the highly regarded Singapore Mathematics and Science curriculum.

The partnership aims to assist educators in Uzbekistan in transitioning their schools to adopt the curriculum, including the introduction of appropriate textbooks and resources. The Marshall Cavendish Education Science series for grades 5 to 11 will now be accessible in Uzbekistan through Novda Edutainment LLC, recently appointed as the key distributor in Tashkent. The action plan also includes conducting professional development programs, such as master trainer training, to familiarize educators with relevant competency frameworks. This effort aims to support the establishment of a dynamic learning environment in schools.

Schools will also be introduced to AI solutions enabling real-time and personalized learning experiences. Marshall Cavendish Education plans to conduct three training modules focusing on leadership, Mathematics, and Science. Trainers from Singapore will deliver these modules to help educators and teachers grasp essential concepts like problem-solving skills and scientific inquiry. The ultimate objective is to prepare students in Uzbekistan for sustained academic success on the global stage.

More than 300 people attended the official launch of the curriculum and training programmes at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tashkent, including school leaders, educators, and teachers from across the country. Ms Saida Shavkatovna Mirziyoyeva, the First Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, Mr Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev, also attended the event.

The collaborative event hosted by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Marshall Cavendish Education highlighted the theme 'Effective Reforms - Sustainable Results'. It underscored the significance of embracing current teaching trends and integrating technologies like AI into classrooms. As part of the partnership, over 400 school leaders nationwide will undergo training. These leaders will then serve as master trainers and hubs for providing training to other teachers and educators across Uzbekistan.

"As we embark on this journey in Uzbekistan, Marshall Cavendish Education is determined to guide educators in understanding the key strategies to make learning joyful and enriching. Our veteran trainers would be present to help the ministry master techniques and adapt to latest teaching resources, allowing a seamless online and offline solution to elevate its teaching and learning experience", shared Mr. Siew Peng Yim, CEO, Times Publishing Limited.

"You cannot teach children of the 21st century using the approach of the 20th century; this is why teachers have to always be ready to change and learn", said Ms. Khilola Umarova, Minister of the Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The training programs commenced on June 10, and the first phase is anticipated to conclude by this July.
