UTM and Lishui University established an Educational Partnership in China

  • In an effort to enhance global connections and promote academic collaboration, Prof. Datuk. Ir. Ts. Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail, the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and Prof. Dr. Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), led a delegation to Lishui University in China. The meeting, which included Lishui University President Li An and Vice President Hu Fengji, marked a significant milestone in establishing a collaborative partnership between the two institutions. Lishui University President Ang Lee warmly welcomed the delegation, offering insights into the history and key features of Lishui University. He underscored the potential for strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two educational institutions.

    President Li An emphasized the importance of the visit by the expert team, expressing confidence in its potential to enhance the quality of open education and facilitate the growth of international exchanges and opportunities for talent development. In return, Prof. Ahmad Fauzi expressed appreciation for the hospitable reception and shared information about UTM's history, campus atmosphere, faculty, student body, scientific research, and pivotal laboratories. He expressed keen interest in fostering collaboration through initiatives like undergraduate student exchange programs, cooperative training for graduate students, and teacher exchange programs.

    Moreover, Prof. Dr. Mohd Shafry provided detailed insights into UTM's exchange programs and the micro-credit system during the meeting. Subsequently, both parties engaged in thorough discussions regarding specific collaboration details. The collaboration achieved a significant milestone as a formal cooperation agreement was signed after the event. The ceremony was attended by key representatives from both institutions, including the Deputy Director of Global Strategy and Engagement, CEO, Graduate Academic Supervisor of UTM, Head of the Discipline Construction and Graduate Management Office, International Cooperation and Exchange Office, School of Ecology, School of Mathematics and Computers, and School of Engineering. Additionally, representatives from the School of Nationalities (Humanities) and doctoral representatives from the School, along with relevant officials from the Malaysian United Wing Aid, participated in the ceremony.
