In commemoration of 30 years of diplomatic relations, the U.S. Mission to Vietnam, together with the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Institute of International Education, has launched the International Academic Partnership Program. The program is intended to enhance academic exchange and innovation between the two countries.
Between March 31 and April 4, more than 40 senior administrators from 21 premier U.S. universities will go on a study tour in Vietnam. From public and private institutions across 17 states, the group will experience Vietnam's higher education system through campus visits, networking receptions, and meetings with government and private sector officials.
During the 2023/24 academic year alone, over 30,000 Vietnamese students have been studying in the U.S., injecting well over $1 billion into the American economy. This increasing movement underscores the centrality of cooperation in education for the U.S.-Vietnam relationship.
As we mark three decades of diplomatic relations, this higher education delegation highlights the United States' dedication to our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper said. Deepening educational partnerships opens up new avenues for students and scholars in both nations.
Jason Czyz, Institute of International Education President, underlined the economic and educational advantages of such partnerships. "Researchers from both countries can collaborate in priority STEM fields and develop training programs that are equipping students for the future of work", he said.
The initiative has been acclaimed by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training as an important measure which signifies taking bold steps forward for promoting the student and academic staff exchanges, generating innovation and securing a bright future through learning.
It ensures the solidifying of friendly relationship between Vietnam and the United States, ensuring gateways towards better learning and a brighter tomorrow for generations ahead.
