University of Sargodha Signs MoUs to Boost Cultural, Academic Ties with China

  • The University of Sargodha (UoS) further strengthened its international academic relationships by signing two key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with prominent institutions from China. The MoUs would look to strengthen cooperative relations in the area of culture, education, and technology, thus forming a well-known advancement in UoS's efforts towards better academic and cultural relations with China.

The MoUs were signed with the Action Academy of Beijing Film and Television Research Institute and Tang International Education. The vice chancellor of UoS, Prof. Dr Qaisar Abbas, signed the agreements during his recent visit to Beijing, China. It was reported that the agreements make up some of the details within a general strategy by the university to expand global cooperation.

The first MoU signed with the Action Academy of Beijing Film and Television Research Institute focuses on enhancing cooperation in film and media studies. This will promote cooperation in joint research, training programs, as well as educational exchanges between the two respective institutions. Through fostering the collaboration in film and television production, UoS would place itself at the forefront of media and creative arts education in Pakistan. The students and faculty will be equipped with such sophisticated skills in these areas, and they will receive excellent practices in the media industry.

Such programs of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and technical education are now to be included in the curriculum of UoS with the signing of the second MoU with Tang International Education. This MoU has been signed on the back of a visit in July-August by the delegation from UoS to China. The aim of this MoU is to bolster the bouquet of academics offered at the university through international collaboration. The collaborative agreement is set to offer professional training to students at UoS in TCM and other technical disciplines for enhanced learning.

In addition to these agreements, Prof. Qaisar Abbas led a delegation to visit the Agricultural Zhongguancun Science Park in Beijing's Pinggu District to explore possible collaboration opportunities in agriculture. He signed a cooperation intent to set up an agro-based company at the Agro-Based Economic Hub, under construction in Sargodha. This partnership is anticipated further to strengthen agricultural development in the region as it would utilize Chinese technology and research capacities to produce more sustainable output in agriculture, thus contributing to regional economic stability.

These collaborations are underpinned by the dedication of UoS to reinforcing global academic links, enriching its curricula, and sustaining innovation across a multiplicity of disciplines.
