The Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks are operated and maintained by RKH Qitarat, a service operator to Qatar Rail, following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) has signed with RKH Qitarat. The agreement intends to promote collaboration between the two organizations while also advancing the professional growth of the cadres of both organizations and providing training opportunities for UDST students. The contract was signed on the university campus, by executives representing both organizations; the agreement was signed by Kevin Thomas, CEO and Managing Director of RKH Qitarat, and Dr. Salem Al Naemi, President of UDST.

The MoU acts as a foundation for a number of joint projects between the two organizations. For instance, UDST academic staff may participate in industry attachments to find prospective prospects for applied research as well as work placements for UDST students. Additionally, RKH Qitarat will participate in the appropriate Program Advisory Committee for UDST. Both sides will work together in ongoing professional growth and education programs, consulting services, and several initiatives relating to sustainable transportation.
