UAE: Some university students in Sharjah will be given hybrid classes

  • Given the specific conditions of some students, a new hybrid education method will be launched at a leading institution in Sharjah. His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah approved the new strategy for the University of Sharjah (UoS), which is aimed specifically at working students. "I sympathize with working students who are unable to attend university on a consistent basis," Sheikh Dr. Sultan stated during a phone conversation with the Direct Line radio program. "As a result, the University of Sharjah will implement a hybrid education system that blends in-person and remote learning," he continued. According to the Sharjah Ruler, the new program requires students to attend university only one day per week for each course, rather than three days per week. The next two days will be done online. "However, this system will be used only in specific cases where there is evidence that the student's circumstances necessitate the hybrid approach in order for them to complete their education." Employees who are unable to take leave are included; it does not apply to everyone," he explained. Sheikh Dr. Sultan launched the initiative in response to a phone call from a local called Umm Saud, who expressed worry over her inability to attend lectures on a regular basis owing to employment obligations as an employee. The UAE leader also emphasized the importance of knowing and enjoying Arabic. "If people truly understood the value of the language they speak, they would study it with dedication and perseverance.
