TUP-Visayas Tops ECT, Ranks Second in ECE Licensure Exams

  • The Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas (TUPV) again proved its mettle for academic excellence as it ranked as the top performing school in the April 2025 Electronics Technicians (ECT) Licensure Examination and second in the Electronics Engineer (ECE) Licensure Examination.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced the results last Thursday night, citing TUPV's excellent performance in both national board exams.

The 96.30 percent passing efficiency of TUPV in the ECT examination was topped only by 78 out of a total of 81 examinees, far greater than the country's average 81.75 percent. It was announced as the top-performing school for the ECT category among institutions with 30 or more examiners. Both TUPV students Jayvee Fuentebella and Jan Frederick Valenton led the exam with the same rating score of 95 percent.

This is the second year in a row TUPV has led the ECT board exam, having posted a 93.06 percent passing rate in 2024. 1,971 out of 2,411 examinees passed this year's ECT exam across the country.

In the ECE Licensure Examination, TUPV ranked second among top performing schools with a passing rate of 88.16 percent, much higher than the national average of 45.39 percent. Bryan Guillang of TUPV ranked eighth in the country with a rating of 90.30 percent. In total, 1,280 out of 2,820 examinees passed the ECE exam.

TUPV's Niele Shem Banas, a magna cum laude graduate, topped the ECE board exam last year.

'TUPV did it again', boasted the university, noting the effort and commitment of its faculty as well as its hardworking students for attaining such achievements.
