Taiwanese Students visit India in Groundbreaking Exchange Program

  • In a groundbreaking initiative, students from Yi Chang Junior High School in Hualien, Taiwan, embarked on a cultural exchange journey to India from April 21st to 27th. This marked the inaugural visit of junior high school students from Taiwan to India, fostering cross-cultural understanding and friendship.

Under the leadership of Principal LIANG, CHUNG-CHIH, the Taiwanese students visited Ramjas International School in R K Puram, New Delhi. During their visit, they participated in classes alongside Indian students from classes 7 and 8.

The immersive experience provided them with the opportunity to delve into the diverse facets of Indian culture, including its cuisine, history, and religion. From savoring aromatic spices to exploring ancient temples, the students were enthralled by the vibrant tapestry of Indian life.

Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 "Climate Action," both schools engaged in meaningful discussions and practical activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.

The exchange was characterized by active participation from students of both schools, who eagerly shared their perspectives, cultures, and experiences, thereby enriching the exchange and fostering mutual understanding. Additionally, practical knowledge, such as earthquake safety measures, was exchanged, highlighting the tangible benefits of such cross-cultural interactions.

The warm hospitality extended by Indian host families made a profound impact on the Taiwanese visitors, who relished traditional Indian dishes, engaged in lively conversations, and formed bonds transcending geographical boundaries. For many, this exchange program was a transformative learning experience, expanding their horizons and nurturing curiosity about the world beyond their familiar surroundings.

The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India (TECC) meticulously organized the exchange program, recognizing its potential to shape the perspectives of the next generation. Peters LY Chen, Director of Education Division, aims to foster global citizenship and cross-cultural collaboration among young students in India and Taiwan.
