The academy, a collaboration between Climata (Pvt.) Ltd and BCAS Campus, is the first of its kind. The urgency of climate change necessitates a comprehensive strategy, with education playing a crucial role as a fundamental component of the solution.

This ambitious endeavor, utilizing state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) technologies, aims to prepare future generations to address contemporary environmental challenges through practical, hands-on learning. The curriculum includes dedicated subjects like AI and IoT-powered climate-smart agriculture, AI and IoT-powered climate-smart aquaculture, sustainable finance, sustainable marketing, and corporate sustainability. The board of directors of the Climata Academy is comprised of a diverse panel, including Founder and CEO Clair Prakash from Climata (Pvt.) Ltd, BCAS Campus CEO Teresh Amaratunga, IAS Holdings Group Managing Director Tania Polonnowita Wettimuny, and Engenuity AI Co-Founder & CEO Gihan Mendis.

The introduction of the Climata Academy signifies a noteworthy achievement in Sri Lanka's battle against climate change. Through investments in education and the empowerment of upcoming generations, the country is forging a path toward a more sustainable and resilient future for everyone. Climate change education plays a crucial role in helping individuals comprehend and confront the impacts of the climate crisis, endowing them with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes necessary to become catalysts for change. The global community acknowledges the significance of education and training in addressing climate change. Directives from the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Paris Agreement, and the associated Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) agenda urge governments to educate, empower, and involve all stakeholders and major groups in policies and actions related to climate change.
