  • Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the launch of Dubai National University, marking a significant milestone in the UAE's educational landscape. With an initial investment of Dh4.5 billion, the new institution aims to establish itself as a leading center of academic excellence and innovation.

In a social media statement, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the university's ambitious goals: "Today we are launching a new project to develop education in our country... Its goal is to be among the top 50 young universities over the next decade". He further emphasized the university's vision to be ranked among the top 200 universities globally within 20 years and to become one of the top three contributors to research locally within the next ten years.

Dubai National University is set to offer specialized and future-oriented academic programs, maintaining a strong Emirati identity while also catering to international standards. The university's curriculum will align with the developmental goals of the UAE, preparing graduates to compete effectively on the global stage.

Sheikh Mohammed appointed prominent figures to lead the university: Hamdan bin Mohammed as President, Maktoum bin Mohammed as Vice President, and Ahmed bin Saeed as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The institution will also be supported by a global advisory council composed of experts from various fields.

The launch of Dubai National University is part of Dubai Social Agenda 33, a ten-year initiative focused on 'Family: The Foundation of Our Nation'.
