A social fund for the education department has been announced by Saudi Arabia with the goal of advancing educator professional development and ensuring the sustainability of institutional work in the education sector. By offering professional development opportunities, specialized courses, supporting a nurturing educational environment, and providing them with quality services, this initiative aims to strengthen the role of teachers. The fund's establishment was announced by the Saudi Minister of Education, Yousef Al-Benyan, within the framework of the integrated relationship between the Ministry of Education and the educational workforce, particularly teachers.
He emphasized that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's directives on advancing education in Saudi Arabia and putting into action a transformative plan for the education sector to ensure its excellence and competitiveness on the global stage are crystal clear. The initiative recognizes World Teachers' Day, which is observed on October 5 each year. Al-Benyan clarified that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program, which offers opportunities for Saudi citizens to enroll in international universities and covers all academic levels and fields of study, is still accepting applications all year long. Additionally, he mentioned that more than 52,000 Saudi Arabian scholarship recipients have enrolled in foreign universities, many of them in specialized fields that help the Kingdom realize its 2030 Vision.
The minister highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance the foundations of education in the Kingdom. These efforts align with modern educational approaches and follow the best global practices. Moreover, Al-Benyan unveiled new curricula which place a strong emphasis on cognitive, skill-based, and behavioral aspects. These curricula encompass subjects such as space science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and more. He clarified that some of these courses have already been introduced in the secondary education level in the new academic year.
