Rural and urban youths will hold equal education opportunities: Malaysia

  • The Sabah Government will provide equal access to education for both urban and rural students through more conducive school facilities, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor quoted. He said this is aligned with the State Government’s objective of promoting education to generate a skilled, competitive and exceptional workforce capable of prompting Sabah to a more elevated development. His commitment to enhancing the quality of education is indicated in the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan which is partially based on the core values of Human Capital Development and Well-Being of the People.

“Only via knowledge, skills and higher education, youngsters of Sabah can flourish and compete, while contributing to the growth of Sabah and its society”, he said during the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Sekolah Kebangsaan Bundung. During his administration, considerable education initiatives have been provided for Sabahan students, from primary to secondary schools as well as tertiary level, to ensure access to higher education, he stated.

Commenting on the subject of ramshackle schools in the State, Hajiji said the Federal Government headed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has prioritised the reconstruction of infrastructure in such schools. He also urged parents to provide their children with adequate education and prevent them from falling prey to harmful elements that could destroy their lives. On the diamond jubilee celebrations, Hajiji wished it would be a motivation to inspire the school to greater heights and continue producing excellent students, academically as well as of good character, for the future of Sabah.
