President Droupadi Murmu presented the Lakshmipat Singhania - IIM Lucknow National Leadership Awards during a ceremony held in New Delhi. In her address to the audience, President Murmu emphasized the importance of integrating various facets of artificial intelligence (AI) into management education for holistic progress. She also underscored the significant role of entrepreneurship within Indian culture.
President Murmu highlighted that the relentless pursuit of increasing production and productivity has had adverse effects on humanity, giving rise to climate change and ecological disruptions. Conversely, she praised the importance of entrepreneurship in Indian society, noting the growing trend among the country's youth to embrace a culture of self-employment. Recognizing India as the third-largest global startup ecosystem and a notable hub for unicorn companies, President Murmu commended the management skills, business insight, and technical expertise demonstrated by the country's youth. She emphasized the significant roles that Indian youth play in the top tech enterprises globally.
The President insisted on a revamp of educational institution curricula to promote more inclusive and efficient national development. Encouraging cooperation among managers, educators, and organizational leaders, she suggested aligning Indian management studies with the needs of local companies, consumers, and society. President Murmu proposed a shift in the focus of case studies and teachings from international businesses to the Indian and multinational companies operating within India.
Furthermore, she underscored the significance of channelling the research efforts toward Indian-centric journals, especially those available in the open-access realm, and available to students and researchers from various backgrounds. President Murmu pointed out recent incidents like the successful rescue of 41 labourers from the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand, highlighting the importance of leadership and teamwork studies, particularly in times of crisis.
