RCC launches roadmap of its skill development institute: Bangladesh

  • The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has initiated a skill development institute intending to create employment opportunities for unemployed youths. The institute was inaugurated by RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton during an orientation and training program for 240 students at the conference hall of the city, Bhaban. Located on the 10th floor of the city Bhavan's annexe building, the institute will offer four courses: Web design and development for freelancing, digital marketing for freelancing, graphics design for freelancing, and video editing for freelancing to individuals interested in acquiring these skills.

Each course will have a duration of four months, accommodating 30 students each. Additionally, there will be complimentary English-spoken courses to enhance communication skills. Participants who complete the courses will receive certificates from RCC and the National Skill Development Authority affiliated with the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. Mayor Liton, while addressing the gathering, mentioned that the institute was established with the objective of cultivating skilled human resources through training.

Mayor Liton highlighted that numerous individuals are observed earning significant income and acquiring foreign currency through freelancing while working from home. He emphasized that they are also contributing as remittance earners. Liton expressed a strong commitment to creating employment opportunities for both young men and women by harnessing the potential of this sector. The opening ceremony, chaired by RCC Chief Executive Officer Dr ABM Sharif Uddin, featured addresses from various speakers including Chief Engineer Nur Islam, Panel Mayor Nizam Ul Azim, Divisional Head of Rajshahi Women Technical Training Centre Atiqur Rahman, and Institute Coordinator Prof. Habibur Rahman.
