Queen Mary and IBA Karachi Unites for Management Program in Pakistan

  • The agreement delineated strategies to simplify the transition of IBA Karachi students into master's programs at the School of Business and Management. Established in 1955, IBA Karachi is recognized as one of Pakistan's foremost public sector institutions, particularly acclaimed for its standing in Business education within Pakistan and Asia. The Memorandum of Understanding was formally endorsed by Professor Stefan Krummaker, Deputy Vice-Principal at Queen Mary, and Maheen Gauri, Dean of Student Affairs at IBA Karachi.

Regarding the collaboration between the two institutions, Professor Stefan Krummaker expressed enthusiasm, stating, "Meeting our counterparts at IBA Karachi was a fantastic experience. I anticipate the arrival of numerous skilled Pakistani students at Queen Mary and the School of Business and Management for their master's studies. Pakistan holds strategic importance for Queen Mary in our commitment to being a genuinely global university". This occurred as part of Queen Mary's broader visit to Pakistan.

Invited by the English Speaking Union, Professor Stefan discussed the effective delivery of quality education through a clear mission and strategy. He highlighted Queen Mary's commitment to providing global opportunities for students and shared insights on strategies to empower both educators and students. Queen Mary organized its inaugural alumni event in Karachi, attended by more than 70 former students. The event, hosted by the British Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan, Sarah Mooney, saw the participation of distinguished alumni such as Syed Jawad Muzzafar Shah, a recent Chevening scholar appointed as Deputy Commissioner for Korangi, and Zubai Ahmed Abro, Vice-President of the Sindh High Court Bar Association.
