OP Jindal Global University and York University collaborate to improve the quality of the higher education ecosystem

  • York University in Canada has partnered with OP Jindal Global University to invest in the India Immersion Program, as well as other critical initiatives. This would allow Canadian students to comprehend India, its growth story, and India's global impact. A Pan-India entrepreneurship boot camp will be held in addition to expose talented students to the world's largest business and consumer market. The recently established global research seed fund will invest in global research collaborations with leading industries, universities, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in priority countries such as India. India and Canada have a long history of cooperation in the field of education. Partnerships in higher education and research are critical components of the Canada-India bilateral relationship. It is natural for the two countries given their many diplomatic and cultural ties. Areas of ever-increasing productive cooperation include student mobility, research partnerships, and educational exchanges. According to the Canadian Bureau for International Education, nearly 34% of all international students in Canada are from India.

India has emerged as a geopolitical leader, and its recent G20 presidency has demonstrated its critical role in international partnerships. Educational institutions in Canada and India share a vision of internationalization, collaboration, and innovation. Educational diplomacy can pave the way for growth and development of the vibrant young population of India where over 950 million people are less than 35 years of age.  "Since our founding in 2009, our vision has been focused on building India's first 'Global University,'" says Professor C Raj Kumar, founding vice-chancellor of OP Jindal Global University, Sonepat. We have demonstrated our dedication to this vision by instilling internationalism in all aspects of higher education, ensuring a global learning experience in a global setting. JGU now has over 1,100 full-time faculty members from 50+ countries and over 10,000 students from 70+ countries. Canada is an important partner in establishing mutually strong partnerships focused on our collaborative strengths in India's quest to create a global arena of knowledge exchange and opportunities. Our countries share a strong commitment to democracy, diversity, the rule of law, and pluralistic values."
