North London Collegiate School International has announced the launch of its inaugural school in Japan. North London Collegiate School Kobe (NLCS Kobe) is scheduled to open its doors in August 2025, marking a significant expansion into the Japanese education market in partnership with Hakko Car Group.
Located on Rokko Island, NLCS Kobe will cater to students from grades 1 through 8, offering a premium education designed to cultivate the next generation of global leaders. This new branch will join the existing NLCS network, which includes prestigious schools in the UK, South Korea, the UAE, and Singapore.
The school will operate from the AsiaOne building on Rokko Island, providing students with proximity to the bustling commercial hubs of Osaka and Kobe. NLCS Kobe will be a selective, co-educational day school known for its rigorous academic standards and holistic educational approach.
A statement on the school’s website highlighted that NLCS Kobe aims to recruit top-tier educators from around the globe. These teachers will undergo training at NLCS (UK) to align with the school's ethos and educational philosophy. The focus will be on nurturing students' individual interests and passions, encouraging exploration beyond traditional curriculum boundaries.
The establishment of NLCS Kobe reflects a broader trend of premium British schools expanding into Japan, a shift driven by increasing regulatory constraints on education in China. Other recent entrants to the Japanese market include Harrow Appi, Rugby School, and Malvern College, which have opened campuses across the country.
NLCS Kobe promises to bring a distinguished educational experience to Japan, continuing the legacy of excellence established by its sister schools worldwide.
