Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Dhanraj Gurung, has declared that Nepal should be developed as an 'education hub' by attracting foreign students to Nepal and preventing the trend of brain drain of Nepali youths for higher education. Addressing the inaugural session of the second International Conference of Private and Boarding Schools Organisation Nepal (PABSON), Minister Gurung highlighted that all should concentrate on improving the quality of education to put an end to the migration of Nepali students from their native country for education and employment.
He emphasised the need to implement the School Education Bill 2080, passing it based on discussion with stakeholders as it has already been presented at the parliamentary committee amidst the long struggle and discussion. The Law Minister mentioned that the role of the private sector in providing quality education should not be ignored. "Quality education is possible in Nepal if all school founders and teachers pay attention to the issue of how to make their school competent and the students capable", he conveyed.
Similarly, PABSON Chairperson DK Dhungana said that the conference was organised to hold dialogue among all sides on issues like quality advancement of classrooms, leadership development in the education sector and policy-level changes. Conference Coordinator Medini Lamichhane stated discussion would be held among participants in 17 sessions. Approximately 400 participants including owners, principals, and teachers of private and community schools are participating in the conference. PABSON General Secretary RB Katwal shared that the main purpose of the conference is leadership development and increasing educational quality.
