NCS Collaborates With ITE to Broaden Student Career Prospects

  • NCS and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) have formalized a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the aim of broadening career pathways for ITE students and graduates in the technology sector. The signing ceremony, graced by Mr. Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Communications and Information, marked a significant step towards enhancing opportunities for ITE students in the tech industry.

Under the MOU, NCS will expand its provision of internship and industry attachment opportunities to ITE students within its organization. This initiative is part of NCS's broader commitment to offering such opportunities to students across various educational levels, including Higher Nitec, Diploma, and Degree programs.

Selected ITE students participating in internships will engage closely with NCS's field support and customer servicing teams, thereby enhancing their skills and gaining valuable experience in IT-related career domains even before completing their studies. Exceptional students may also qualify for NCS's Ignite work-study program, specifically tailored for Nitec/Higher Nitec graduates. This program allows students to work full-time at NCS while pursuing a fully sponsored Diploma course, without any bond obligations.

Sam Liew, Chief Executive at NCS, emphasized the organization's commitment to offering diverse pathways for local talents to secure rewarding career opportunities, particularly within the dynamic technology sector. Through this initiative, NCS aims to cultivate a robust pool of local tech talents essential for Singapore's digital economy, equipping them with the requisite skills and experiences to thrive and achieve their career goals.

Low Khah Gek, CEO of the Institute of Technical Education, highlighted the collaboration's significance in bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications. By combining efforts, students can apply theoretical knowledge gained in classrooms to practical tasks in the workplace, thereby gaining valuable insights into the wide array of job opportunities available in the digital economy driven by technology and digitalization.
