Myanmar's Senior General promotes Polytechnic Education for Employment

  • Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, emphasized the significance of polytechnic education during his visit to Yangon Western Technological University. He proposed the transformation of Universities of Computer Studies and Technological Universities into polytechnic institutions to offer students a well-rounded learning experience that aligns with employment demands. Additionally, the Senior General underscored the importance of establishing more universities focused on agriculture and livestock, reflecting Myanmar's dedication to fortifying its agricultural sector, which serves as a vital foundation for the country.

    Senior General Min Aung Hlaing emphasized the crucial contribution of faculty members in providing practical knowledge and recognizing students with exceptional potential for advanced studies during his visit. The update he received covered the advancement of a new three-story lecture hall and other infrastructure projects at the university. Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw briefed the Senior General on the ongoing initiatives to establish technological and computer universities, the admission procedures for student hostels, and the construction of extra buildings.

    Highlighting the significance of skilled educators in moulding outstanding students, the Senior General advocated for a strong and proficient educational system. He pointed out that the progress of Myanmar towards democracy faces obstacles due to a lack of legal compliance and inadequate economic awareness among its citizens. This acknowledgement emphasizes his conviction in the transformative impact of education, not only in fostering careers but also in shaping a democratic society that abides by the law.
