Chief Executive of the federal policy think tank BVR Subrahmanyam said on Wednesday "Making India a global provider of education is a part of the 'Vision 2047' document prepared by NITI Aayog. According to the industry body FICCI, "There is an important role of education in the document being prepared by NITI Aayog. To have around half a million foreign students in India by 2047 is our central thought. And this is a new approach to pedagogy that We should become a global provider of education by improving our quality, brand value and our rankings which are recognized globally", stated Subrahmanyam at a higher-education summit NITI Aayog organised in the capital.
The vision document for India to become a developed economy of about $30 trillion by 2047 will be released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January" Subrahmanyam quoted. The draft 'Vision India @2047' document will sketch out the institutional and structural changes and reforms needed to take the country towards a developed nation by 2047.
Subrahmanyam said that since the states are financially stressed, the private sector will have to take care of the funds. He said there is a need to create cities providing the best education and persuaded the private sector to expand the higher-education environment in India which will attract more students from abroad to come and study in India.
