Higher Education Commissio(HEC) introduces a scholarship program for Gwadar-based students

  • An endeavor to provide the youth of Gwadar with modern education and necessary skills has been initiated by Pakistan's Higher Education Commission (HEC). The program is intended to assist exceptional Gwadar students who wish to enroll in a public sector university or degree-granting institution (DAI) in the provinces of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, or Sindh for undergraduate study (BS-4/5 years Program). An initiative of the government, this scholarship program aims to equip students from Gwadar with modern skills so they can find work prospects inside the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects and other job markets.

The project "Scholarship Programme for Students from Gwadar" is offering scholarships for the academic year up until fall 2023, spanning a wide range of academic fields. The aforementioned scholarship is primarily intended for students who have successfully completed their 12-year education, including FA/FSs/ICS, ICom, and DAE or equivalent, and who hold resident or domicile certificates for the district of Gwadar, according to Gwadar Pro. Students from Gwadar who have at least three years left in their academic session and are enrolled in 4-year BS programs at any public sector institution in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), or Sindh are also eligible to apply for this award.

Students will be chosen purely on the basis of their academic performance in SSC and HSSC as well as how well they performed on an aptitude exam given by ETC-HEC. The chosen students' tuition, housing costs, and other expenses will be covered by the grant. Additionally, the students will receive annual book and travel stipends as well as a monthly stipend. Up until the application date of October 31, 2023, students from Gwadar who are up to 22 years old can apply for the program online on the HEC website.

For undergraduate students from the coastal region of Balochistan, which includes Gwadar, in HEC-recognized colleges and institutes, the Coastal Region Higher Education Scholarship Program (CRHESP) awarded 200 scholarships in April. In order to give the youth of Gwadar more authority, the federal and Balochistan governments prioritize education. With the help of CPEC, there are several educational institutes providing top-notch technical and vocational education.

Students at the University of Gwadar (UG) have just been awarded special scholarships from the Chinese ambassador. Free short courses on the maritime industry are provided by UG and the Pak-China Technical & Vocational Institute (PCTVI). Additionally, UG has a partnership with the TANG International Education Group in China that enables students and staff to enroll in online short courses at prominent Chinese colleges and universities.
