A scholarship scheme for graduate pupils at the College of Islamic Studies of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) was introduced in May by the General Endowment Department of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. Under the scheme, qualifying students originally received 36 scholarships, which would progressively expand to 120 scholarships. The endowment fund's goals for education and cultural development, which have seen significant growth and diversification over the past few years, are aligned with those of these scholarships, according to Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, director-general of the general endowment department, who spoke at the launch event. He mentioned the Department is a community partnership that broadens community partnerships with the many sectors of society with the objective to fulfill its motto, the endowment.
A list of international schools and institutions that are qualified for Qatari scholarships is compiled by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to guarantee the highest quality standards and educational achievements. Numerous higher education institutions from Asia, North America, Europe, and Oceania are included on the list. Every two years, it is revised. A compilation of universities that are authorized to offer online courses is also compiled by the Ministry. Students must be accepted into one of the recognized institutions listed on the Emiri Scholarship or the recognized Universities lists in order to be qualified for a scholarship. The Emiri Scholarship was a highly competitive scholarship offered by the government to students admitted to the world's top institutions, such as Oxford, Harvard, University of Melbourne, McGill University, and Yale. In order to make sure their preferred university is recognized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, students who intend to pay for their tuition must still get prior authorization.
