Google Empowers 1,000+ Central Asian Youths in Tech

  • Over 1,000 young individuals from Central Asia have successfully completed an intensive Google Cloud and Machine Learning training program in Almaty, a significant milestone in the region's tech sector. Supported by Google Developer Groups (GDG) Cloud Almaty, the initiative provides practical experience and internship opportunities, mirroring the challenges faced by professionals in the global tech industry. Facilitated by GDG Cloud Almaty, an independent community of software developers, the program serves as a launchpad for aspiring IT professionals in Central Asia.

Twenty outstanding students from the program have been selected for internships at the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU), further enhancing their career prospects. The training, designed by GDG Cloud Almaty, combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, offering a unique blend to participants. Indian IT firms are also encouraged to explore these training sessions, highlighting the potential for collaboration between Central Asian talent and global tech corporations.

Askar Aituov, the developer relations coordinator for Google Developers and Google for Startups in Central Asia and Mongolia, emphasizes that the program not only equips participants with essential skills but also prepares them for the professional world through internships. The initiative's impact and its role in nurturing future tech leaders in the region are optimistic, according to Aituov.

The program extends its reach to developers from Afghanistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, reflecting a comprehensive effort to uplift the IT community in Central Asia. Participants earn badges for completing educational quests or laboratory work, with five badges required for the final certification, providing tangible proof of their expertise and dedication.

The closing ceremony, scheduled for March 16 in Almaty, aligns with International Women's Day and is part of the Women Techmakers program. This alignment underscores Google's commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, emphasizing the importance of providing women with the resources, visibility, and community needed to thrive in technology fields.
