Enrollment opens for the Mainland University Study Aid scheme

  • Beginning on (July 10), qualified Hong Kong graduates may submit applications for the Mainland University Study Subsidy Scheme (MUSSS) 2023/24 from now up to September 8. According to a representative of the EDB, the MUSSS is intended to assist Hong Kong students who are enrolled in undergraduate programs at 193 established Mainland institutions, including 132 that are taking part in the Scheme for Admission of Hong Kong Students to Mainland Higher Education Institutions for the academic year 2023–2024.

Under the MUSSS, students who meet the requirements can apply to receive a non-means-tested subsidy or a means-tested subsidy (only for students who successfully passed the means assessment). The MUSSS stipend is given annually, and the subsidized term corresponds to the length of the undergraduate program that the student in question is pursuing at the authorized Mainland University. Only in the same academic year may qualified applicants obtain a means-tested or non-means-tested stipend. There are no quotas imposed on the MUSSS. Most Hong Kong pupils who undertake undergraduate degrees on the Mainland and have various financial circumstances are expected to gain from the MUSSS.

Information regarding the MUSSS is accessible at: www.edb.gov.hk/musss on the EDB website. On or before September 8, students with eligibility have to submit the applications via the MUSSS Electronic Application Platform (musss.edb.gov.hk) or mail the completed application forms to the EDB. By the first quarter of 2024, the EDB is anticipated to inform the results of the candidates of the application.
