British University Vietnam attains QS 5-star rating & QAA recognition

  • British University Vietnam (BUV) is one of the first universities in Vietnam to achieve Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars and U.K. Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education certification (QAA). QS Stars & the QAA are two of the most recognized accreditations for higher education quality in the world. QS Stars (star rating system), a component of the Quacquarelli Symonds Education Quality Assurance Organization's evaluation system, is an educational quality scale recognized by prestigious universities worldwide. The QS system evaluates universities based on teaching aspects, facilities, social responsibility, research, and international diversity using 8 groups of standards, more than 50 criteria, and established worldwide standards.

    QAA certification is granted by the U.K. Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, which is responsible for the accreditation and quality assurance of universities in the U.K. and British higher education institutions around the world. Universities seeking QAA accreditation must go through a rigorous International Quality Review (IQR) procedure based on a list of 10 areas and the U.K.'s international quality assurance requirements. QAA has almost 300 member universities across the United Kingdom. BUV is the first and only university in Southeast Asia and the only institution in Vietnam to acquire QAA's IQR accreditation, becoming one of 22 universities outside the U.K. to do so.

    BUV achieved excellent ratings in all ten accrediting categories and was recognized for exceptional academic activities, particularly in three areas: significant employer engagement and connections, opportunities and support for students, and a personal development program. At the same time, BUV is also the first and only name among all QS-starred universities in Vietnam to achieve comprehensive 5-star standards in the following criteria: teaching, employability, academic development, facilities, social responsibilities, and inclusiveness. Journey to achieve 5-star QS Stars and QAA The QS 5-star and QAA certifications are great awards for BUV's efforts in the journey to serve education.

    BUV is constantly striving to improve teaching quality by investing in facilities, incorporating technology into training, and establishing. The Personal & Social Growth (PSG) Programme, encourages students to gain experience and skills through activities in four categories: work and career readiness; university and community engagement; social, cultural, and emotional development; and academic excellence. BUV also assists students who are enrolled in transfer programs to partner universities in more than 60 countries through the international network of the University of London and Staffordshire University. Furthermore, the university continues to maintain strong partnerships with over 400 firms in its partner network, with the goal of increasing job prospects and creating favorable conditions for students' professional development journeys.

    BUV is one of the few universities that has recorded 100% of students attaining employment or moving on to higher studies within 3 months of graduation.BUV's goal for 2028 is to complete the development plan of the campus, with a total investment of up to US$165 million as part of the strategic investment in facilities.
