Bridge Bank and EAMU Partner for Banking Sector Internships in Cambodia

  • Bridge Bank, a prominent commercial bank providing extensive banking services, has joined forces with East Asia Management University (EAMU) to offer internships, share knowledge, and provide mentorship for EAMU students. This partnership aims to give students a chance to acquire practical experience and a deeper insight into the financial sector. The formalization of this collaboration occurred through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the headquarters of Bridge Bank.

Richard Liew, CEO of Bridge Bank, expressed that this marks the bank's inaugural Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a university. He believes Bridge Bank will serve as a platform to cultivate numerous young talents in Cambodia's financial sector, contributing to its further development. Liew acknowledged the pivotal role the university plays in ensuring a talent pipeline in Cambodia and stressed the importance of fostering future workforce talent through collaborative education in the private sector. This partnership, bridging academia and industry, holds particular significance in maintaining Cambodia's competitive advantage by nurturing the next generation of innovative students capable of driving market growth with new ideas, products, and services.

The collaboration between Bridge Bank and EAMU aims to enhance students' skills and readiness for future roles in the banking sector. Students will receive training based on global banking curriculum standards, encompassing areas such as lending and regulatory compliance. In alignment with Cambodia's focus on education as a key objective, Prof. James Chua, Vice Chancellor of EAMU, stated that this partnership aligns with a long-term strategy to fortify capabilities for the stability of the country's banking system.
