Starting from 2024, Vietnamese students will be admitted to the Australian National University based on their grade-12 academic records rather than their performance on the high school graduation test. The IELTS test result will also be mandatory for Vietnamese candidates. According to the QS World Institution Rankings, the Australian National University, which will be the finest institution in Australia in 2023, has given instructions for converting student academic records' Vietnamese curriculum scores to Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) equivalents.
The Australian National University stated, if the student has a grade point average of at least 9.4 out of 10, they are eligible to apply for the Chancellor's International Scholarship, which covers 50% of their course fee. Beginning in February 2024, the new policy will be applied to all applicants. The 92 talented high schools and top high schools in Vietnam that are eligible for the university's new policy have been listed by the Australian National University.
According to Andy Pham, senior regional manager in charge of the Mekong Delta at the Australian National University, these 92 high schools have stringent admissions policies and high standards for instruction and testing, which ensures the validity of their student's academic achievements. “Surveys conducted over the past few years showed that academic records of students from these schools were equivalent to their results in high school graduation exams,” he added.
Pham says the new enrollment procedure will allow qualified Vietnamese students to get enrolled in the university in July as opposed to February of the following year since they won't have to wait for their high school graduation test results. Vietnamese students additionally need an overall IELTS score of at least 6.5 along with their academic transcripts. The Australian National University will offer 200 foreign applicants with exceptional academic credentials with scholarships worth 25–50 percent of the tuition.
